Winnipeg on the map

Hi friends in Kakuma, Kenya!
Here is a picture of where our city, Winnipeg, is located on a map. This map shows Canada and some of the United States of America. Our city is fairly close to the border between our countries. We live in The Prairies region of Canada where it is mostly farmland. Our farmers grow many different grain crops and have animals such as cattle, pigs and chickens.

Winnipeg is a city with about 700 000 people. It is not a very large city in comparison to other cities in Canada and the United States.

We are very happy to have friends now in Africa.

Officially, our school is called Stevenson-Britannia Elementary School. Most people just refer to us as Stevenson School. We are a Kindergarten to Grade 5 school in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
We have 237 students and 35 staff.

It is winter in Canada. It is cold and there is a lot of snow across most of the country.  Here is a picture of Tom, Tony, Amos playing in the snow in our school yard. It was about -20°C that day. That is fairly usual for Winnipeg from December to February. It even gets colder and when the wind blows, sometimes it gets to be -45°C! We don't like those days. In Winnipeg, we have four very different seasons. The summer can be +40°C. What is your climate like in Kakuma, Kenya?
